Board Observer
The CHB Consumers Power Trust in conjunction with the Centralines Board are presenting a unique opportunity to a talented local individual interested in gaining governance experience through our locally owned lines company. This is an unpaid, 18 month fixed term position aimed at preparing people for governance roles locally or nationally.
Centralines is a consumer owned lines company operating a $74 million asset, providing power distribution throughout Central Hawke’s Bay. The Board comprises five experienced directors who meet regularly throughout the year. The Board Observer is invited to attend Board meetings and participate fully in discussion. It is an opportunity to observe and experience governance in action. The Observer will be given the opportunity to develop their own Governance Development Programme in conjunction with the Board during their term.
We are seeking applications from talented individuals and emerging leaders who:
- Have demonstrated leadership within the community
- Have the desire and motivation to take on future governance roles
- Are living in a dwelling that is registered as a Centralines ICP (installation control point)

Registered Line Mechanic
An opportunity exists at Centralines for a Registered Line Mechanic to join our team based in Waipukurau, Central Hawkes Bay. NZ
Applicants must have an appropriate qualification from the New Zealand Electrical or Telecommunications Industry (or overseas equivalent)
The applicant must be able to gain a current practicing license with EWRB and have at least three years industry experience working with 11kV/400v distribution overhead and underground assets.
Hold a drivers’ license as a minimum, with a clean record. Class 2 & 3 would be advantageous; however, training opportunities would exist for the right candidate.
This permanent position includes a 40 hour week, competitive wage band $32 - $34 NZD, Iphone, modern office and fleet, staff benefits, wellness, health insurance and a family environment.

Vegetation Controller Cadet in Arboriculture
An opportunity exists at Centralines for a Vegetation Controller Cadet to join our team.
The applicant will be trained to safely and efficiently undertake tree trimming and felling of vegetation inside and adjacent to the Centralines live electricity network corridor.
Training will be focussed on the gaining of Arboriculture qualifications, in the latest tree climbing techniques and MEWP Operations.

Trainee Line Mechanic|
An opportunity exists at Centralines for a Trainee Line Mechanic to join our team.
The role of Trainee Line Mechanic is to undertake appropriate education and experience to be able to install new equipment and services on both overhead lines and underground cables.
To assist line mechanics to repair and restore fault damaged lines, cables and equipment.
The Trainee Line Mechanic generally works under the direct supervision of a certified person. This is mandatory when exposed to any “live work” situations.
